I don't understand how some of you try to lower the expectations after a trade like that??? Why!??? Why would McVay make that trade if he didn't have higher expectations???

I come to your rescue since you;re attracting multiple respondents. (Not that I think you personally need it. ). I don't necessarily share your view that it's superbowl or bust, but that's only a personal feeling. I just think that a true SB run requires more than a qb. But I will say this. The team is setting the bar high because they are arguing that the qb held them back. I don't even think that's the real story--or at least not the whole story. But that is what they seem to be saying so far. So when it comes to that, in terms of their own criteria, yes they have to judge their own outcomes on this appropriately.

But...there will be no consequences if they don't make it. No one will be held accountable. There will be no judgment from ownership etc,. So it's not really all that much of a roll of the dice. Well it is, but they're betting house money.

Maybe, if they don't make it, it will cause some good in-house re-evaluations of what they need as a team. Quite possibly very constructive re-evaluations. And I don't just mean personnel or unit coaching, though it would include that. They might also look hard at their approach to things as leaders. Never hurts to do that.

But anyway, I side with you when it comes to this: yes the team cast this as adding the one big needed piece. The team set it up that way. The fact that I personally don't see it that way aside, the team may find it did itself no favors by representing things that way. Again, not that there will be consequences. Not internal ones anyway (I agree that some fans will express their disappointment). But if they don't make it, it wouldn't hurt if the team re-thought how it evaluates these issues.

Some day, though, I think they will make it.
