My point is that looking at what you looked does not provide a clear picture. Across 16 years the league will find some lower round gems just like they have at qb. Heck at one point the Rams had 2 6th rounders and a UDFA at qb, all of whom were productive starters if not for them then for their next team (Warner, Green, Bulger). But that does not tell you what the odds are searching for a qb.

The key is percentages. The tackles picked after round 2 lead to a (just under) 6% hit rate. But that's just what I looked at. It's actually worse than that. Your list covers 16 years and you have 4 LOTs taken after round 2. Yet across those 16 years 196 OTs were taken after round 2. Finding 4 that will still be active in 2021 does not mean it's a serious consideration to count on drafting one.

In draft discussions percentages are key. It's an important point. It's misleading to look at the 2000 Rams and say see how easy it is to find qbs---the Rams had 3 starters without spending a single pick! In the same vein, it's misleading to look at the results of 16 years of drafting and say see there are 4 LOTs drafted after the 2nd round. The percentages tell you that's not very useful information in assessing the odds of finding a starting LOT after round 3. That's MY point. Maybe if the Rams drafted a lower round LOT every draft for the next 16 years they would hit on a starter. But the problem is they need one now and the percentages say you just can't count on a lower round gem turning up.
