zn's Tackle stats are interesting and make a strong argument for a T in Round1 and you also make an interesting point about how the Rams kind of break the mold in terms of traditional NFL thinking.
I mean what are the Odds of a 32 year old coach being top 5 winning percentage of all time after 4 seasons with a team that was a dumpster fire for over a decade? Bet its worse than the hit rate of finding a tackle outside of Round 1 and its not like McVay did the Martz thing with a 14-2 followed by losing seasons. McVay has had a floor of 9 wins and an average of nearly 11 over his 4 years.
All of that said, I think the Rams go the FA route and go the cheap route at other positions. Losing both starting tackles next year and sliding Bobby Evans or Anchrum or some other body in the RT position clearing 20M in cap space with the moves and some other tinkering, clearing up cash to get a splash FA at Tackle who wants a shot at a ring.
Of course, we still need to extend Stafford which will also likely clear up some short term $.

Or maybe just go the FA route again? Not a tier 1, but maybe a tier 2?
Or perhaps extend Boom at a modest price? If Boom can improve his run blocking he could be a fine LOT for some team for a decade or more, IMO. Why not for the Rams?
As an aside, I understand your statistical argument about scarcity of LOT’s beyond the 1st round. I do. But Rams aren’t like most teams. Meaning that they use analytics better, draft better, and Coach up players better than most teams.
So, why couldn’t they find a gem of a future LOT as they do with RB, WR, DL, CB, and S?
