Orlosky claimed the Rams got away from their outside zone blocking scheme in favor of a trapping scheme and that is not true... you then used the exact phrasing to support yet another effort to put the blame for Goff's performance on someone other than Goff
Now I like Orlosky and agreed with everything he said in that video except that the Rams got away from their zone blocking scheme which impacted their ability to use the play-action passing game. That is not correct... they did not do that.
Also to counter what you are saying about the Rams not having the same running game they used to. Just off the top of my head Goff didn't have good games in either of the "Akers" get off games this year v Pats and Sea playoff game. The Rams had a top 10 run game this year. They had a terrible run game last year. Does Goff need an elite run game to be effective? You have made the case using the Tampa game that he played well despite not having a run game. So which is it here?

now look I know you know better than that
I heard Orlosky say that but you know better than that ... you just do
Yet you try and use it here to support your point.
The Rams did not get away from their outside zone run scheme this year... they did begin to mix it up down the stretch for sure but they did not abandon as Orlosky says and you know they didn't zn smh
Speed they do not have the same run game they used to and I don't care about the scheme part of it--they did lose their edge running and it took away the play action and reduced things. We know that. That's just obvious. It happened because of Gurley's knee and then Akers being a rookie and getting dinged.
Meanwhile this is true and it will remain true. After the crisis with 2 especially bad games with Goff turnovers, that stuff stopped. Instead of pressing and trying to make plays when things broke down Goff started taking sacks, bailing, throwing the ball away, etc.
3 INTs in 6 games. Across 16 games with those numbers he would be 4th in the league in INT percentage. How come no one notices that. They don't even notice it enough to try make up some lame dismissal.
IMO, just IMO but definitely a strong IMO--a lot of Goff talk is emotion and not analysis and tries to be categorical or absolute in ways the actual facts do not support.
Yes play action disappeared. Yes they addressed the turnovers and they stopped. Yes the qb we saw on Saturday is a winning franchise qb.
....
Good point on the run game.
Here is where I'm confused about Goff.
He had a much better run game this year compared to last year.
He had a much better OL this year compared to last year.
No one disputes either of these facts.
So why wasn't his performance this year much better than last years? Very troubling!
