....the play calling was neutered and specifically set up to not increase the chance of INT's/fumbles due to a deeper passing game?
He might think the TO's stopped because the risk level dropped dramatically (look how they threw deep with just one game of Wolford which is a small sample size, but bears mentioning and how many of Goff's throws in the two playoff games were relatively short) and he is frustrated he neutered the offense from where it was in 2017 and 2018 to what it is now? (And he even acknowledges the loss of a deep play threat/Cooks), but still he might feel he is playing with half a deck?
He might think he needs a more aggressive attack to get to the SB/a deeper playoff run...
Spitballing here...
The turnovers in the 2 especially bad games did not happen downfield, they happened in the pocket when Goff was pressing and trying to make plays when things fell apart around him.
All you need to with that is to get Goff to stop pressing. Take the sack instead of trying to make a play when there is none, etc.
If McVay neutered his passing attack when he didn't need to then he needs to seriously re-think things.
In terms of the general passing game that remained pretty much the same all year. Variations like using 2 TE sets and so on but really, no, it did not change.
What changed IMO is that Goff learned to stop pressing and trying to make plays when they're not there.
