I flew with a purpose other than pleasure only a few times in life... and that's logging some 500 hours as PIC, (Pilot In Command). Nearly all my flights were solo and pleasure flights. I used to rent a plane out of Fresno and fly north, before dawn, just to watch the sun come up over Yosemite Valley. Occasionally I'd fly to the coast and back just to see the ocean... WHICH, btw, from around 9,000' feet you can see FAR from the coast... but I'd go all the way... just 'because'.
