yeah... I do that as well... "What if I had gone in this direction".
When I was in the Army the thought of 'staying in', making it a career, never crossed my mind.. or rather it did but only in the believe that there was no way I'd go that direction.
Today I often wonder... what if I had stayed in? Traveled the world, retired young, and THEN gone to work as a farmer. I could have done that.
Pre-Army I was convinced I was going to become an actor... that was my major in College actually... with a minor in Ag Business. That one I don't think about today... I admire the dramatic arts, a lot, but it has no hold me today and hasn't pretty much since my post-Army days.
But #1 for me is the very first thing I wanted to be when I 'grew up'. An Archeologist. THAT choice still pulls at me, as strongly as ever. I loved my life as a farmer, the lifestyle is unbeatable, IMHO.. but that would be my biggest regret.. not becoming an archeologist. - JamesJM
