YOUR Supposition, “Besides the Rams believe they can sign him. It;'s either that or they're jerking him around in ways we should be ashamed of.”
Although you didn’t use the words bad faith, What you have said about the Rams jerking Donald around is by definition “BAD FAITH” negotiations by the team. You argue that the Rams know the market, they have the budget so its either sign him or they are just jerking him around (trying to negociate an extension). But as is pointed out throughout this thread, there are so many other reasons why he may not sign. 43 gave a straight forward post stating why the issue could be on the players side. We could let this thread go on and on and I as well as other posters could come up with a plethera of valid reason Donald won’t sign. For example maybe he wants out of LA.etc, or a clause they won’t agree to (opt out) or he wants to be the highest paid player ever. Perhaps his Agent Francis wants to make a name for himself- blowing smoke to his client? How about he know if he gets to free agency someone will always overpay when you are as good as he is. The Rams have control for a few more years. If he renegotiates with the Rams it will not be for what he would get as a free agent. There is no basis to believe they are “JERKING HIM AROUND IN WAYS WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF”.
I am tempted to start a thread “name the many reasons Donald might not want to resign with the Rams- it might be amusing, we will just have to disagree on this point. I do believe we all want whats best for the team just that we all have opinions about what it should be. sigh
