any thots as to why?
It seems as though there's precedent from yer post...and I'm not sure why they have not gotten it done then.
R the Rams lowballing?
Is AD high-ballin???
...or it gets done later this Summer or by the sometime during the season?
btw - It's not my choice/preference to trade AD...
just sayin I think the Rams have a budget and that might be the delay....I dunno.
We HAVE seen the Rams lowball before. And maybe, as some think, AD just wants too much. The Rams say it was structure, not the amount. But to me none of that is the important thing in this part of the overall discussion.
What's important is that some advocate tagging him for 2 years. Why? To get him on the cheap.
I was just pointing out that IF the Rams do that, they would be the only team in this situation that DID do that. Meaning, other star players considered the best at their position have used the 3rd year negotiation option, and in no case did any team just end up lowballing the guy by tagging him.
IF the Rams do that they would be the only team that HAS done that.
Dick Vermeil brought many things to the team to help make them winners. One is little known. At the time, the penny pinching, bad management team of Shaw and Zygmunt wanted to just unceremoniously dump the injured center, Bern Brostek, and do it in a penny-pinching way. Vermeil talked them out of it. He said you cannot build positive team morale if the team treats players without respect. THAT is more important than any money you gain or save. So the Rams listened to him and (I forget the details) treated Brostek more fairly. He was a dedicated player and locker room good guy and by showing him respect in how they treated him, it sent a positive message. Vermeil believed doing that contributed to positive team building.
It's a bad message to take a star player who does the right things the right way and just treat him like a commodity that way. It's bad management. Players see that kind of thing and draw conclusions. You pay a guy like that. You don't tag him and treat him like cattle.
And in this case, there is no Marcus Peters. That is, Tru was not a generational transcendent player. You could move on from Tru and trade for someone better. Donald IS the someone better.
If the Rams are delaying because of a budget, they have the wrong budget.
