And that goes to my point. In order to avoid Hoecht's perceived weakness (pass coverage) he has to be part of the pass rush. But doesn't that imply that Young (or Verse) has to drop into coverage? And if so is that the best use of Young's or Verse's skills?
I get the theory that the Rams might want to hide Hoecht's pass coverage skills (or lack thereof), but if the trade-off is losing Young's or Verse's pass rush so they can drop instead ... well, I'm not sure I get a warm and fuzzy thinking about that.
I think I remember he did. Not very often but not never either. If dropping someone else into coverage helps get Hoecht to the QB, I am ok with it.
Isn't the idea of dropping a DL into coverage supposed to surprise the offense since they don't expect it? I think if not overdone we'll be ok. It will be up to Shula to determine if there is an advantage to dropping others for Hoecht is worth it or not.
I don't think we'll see it often but won't be surprised if we do.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
