He sees opportunities better.

And he processes faster.

Both of which allow him to make bigger and more frequent chunk plays than Goff could.

I don’t think the above is really debatable.

As dz has said, it doesn’t really matter whether the above is a byproduct of greater Stafford experience or if his brain/hand/eye coordination is better. Or both. Or still other factors apply.

Bottom line is that Stafford is a significantly better QB for the Rams in 2021. One of the reasons that ESPN called his acquisition the 2nd best offseason move in the NFL.

I, for one, intend to thoroughly enjoy this ‘21 season.
getting rid of Goff was primarily about 5th year Goff not being as good as 2nd year Goff. I doubt very seriously if the Rams make this trade if Goff was showing any signs of returning to his previous levels of production. For them to cut bait, they must have felt that he could not return to those levels.

And, the numbers sure seem to suggest that he had found his level and it was closer to his floor than his ceiling. '16, half of '18, '19, '20...3 1/2 of his 5 years were disappointing and underperforming. '17 is looking more like a fluke year than any kind of reality for Goff. But, as others have pointed out, more experience does not equal better play all on it's own.
