We'll never know and I don't want to start a board war here, but I think Snead and McVay were going to make some type of move at QB even without Stafford. From everything we know about these guys who are both super aggressive, they don't stand pat once they're dissatisfied. They're not the sink or swim or make due with a subpar solution type.
And make no mistake about it, right or wrong, McVay was dissatisfied with Goff and didn't feel he could win with him anymore. Reports are that's what he went and told Kroenke the second the season ended.
I agree with you that McVay is a bit impatient. Time will tell if that trait hurts him in the future.
I think they were going with Goff at least one more year if the Stafford thing doesn't happen....obviuosly unless this Rodgers thing actually happens,,,,luckily for us Goff wasn't as bad as some make him out to be or Detroit would have taken better offers from other teams ....
I just don't see any other alternatives besides going with Wolford over him, but I just don't see that happening....there wasn't going to be a way for Rams to move up in the draft high enough to take a QB better than Goff...The Lions passed on some highly graded QB's in this years draft and stuck with Goff, so that tells me they liked Goff over them going forward.
