That seems like a technicality to me. I don't read the OP as being literal. When someone says he "won't go through progressions," I catch the general spirit that this person feels he struggles with progressions. I don't take it as a statement that this person is saying that he literally, never goes through progressions.
IMO, good discussion occurs much better when we all try to be understanding and catch the spirit of what someone is saying. That's the only way to see through hyperbole.
If he meant Goff literally won't go through progressions, then I agree with you. That is factually not accurate because we would merely need to show that he's gone through progressions once to disprove it. But if he meant that he struggles, in general, with progressions, which is what I infer, then I can't agree with you and I suggest that neither does the head coach.
