Snead is in charge and chooses to run the operation in a collaborative manner. With Fisher it was Fisher who was in charge with he final say. But Snead know his job it to make the coach a success so he drafts to fit the coaches requirement and engages the coaches in the personnel selection process. Snead runs things in a collaborative manner and has great success that way. The control issues or Snead doing it himself are like some other GMs may do it are not a reflection on Sneads capabilities. Judge Snead based on the Team on the field he is responsible for the roster and coaching staff and has done a great job.
That's not the system they set up. Nothing, anywhere, says Snead is in charge. In fact we don't even know which guy--Snead or McVay--has the contractually granted power of final say.
The Rams GM has a lot of input and he works well collaboratively but that is also his job and how it is defined.
What he RUNS is own department, personnel.
He was not responsoble for the final roster (that's the head coach) and he did not hire the coaches. Demoff hired Mcvay (upon Snead's recommendation) and McVay hired his own coaches. We know all this. Both Demoff and Snead have talked about it.
As I said, we know all this, there's a wide open big reporting trail that covers all of it.
