Where we're close....I too think the Rams could very well have given up too much. In fact I lean that way. I don't think Stafford is a downgrade and at the same time I'm not at all convinced he's an upgrade.
Where we part: You're more of the mind that the only redemption is a SB Victory because it's the only thing Goff didn't accomplish. I see that gap between what Goff accomplished, (which was good), and winning a SB with very good to great QB play as gigantically wide compared to you. IOW... I think Stafford can be noticeably, statistically, in your face better, (possibility, not saying he will be), without a SB victory than Goff was without a SB Victory.
In the end it comes down to "was it worth it", even if Stafford is obviously better but fails to win a SB. If I'm reading you correctly it won't be for you. For me yes IF.... and this without a SB Victory, we are rock solid for the playoffs for the next 3 years or so... season's in which we are truly and indisputably one of the best in the NFL "EVEN IF" another team steps into the 'elite' category and we can't quite get by them.
I know the rebuttal... "That's what Goff already was".... I disagree with that. Goff was very good, IMHO... but also IMHO he cost us games, HIM... well, actually I think McVay as much to blame. - JamesJM
