is the fact that he's a 1 to 2 read QB. You rarely see him get through the entire read for a given play.
Frankly I think that's exaggerated too. Nor does it come from watching an equal number of games played by Stafford too and then comparing them. A Rams fan will have watched all 74 of Goff's starts. Who has watched that many of Stafford's starts? Either way anyone who watches a number of qbs a lot knows that first read throws are just not rare in the NFL in fact an advantage that comes from good pre-snap reads. Warner in Arizona was a master of that.
Stafford being experienced is a plus, so you always take the 13th year vet over the 5th year vet, if the older guy is still physically viable.
But having said that, Goff was better against the blitz, on third down overall (though not 3rd and long), and in the redzone. That's not saying he did not struggle because he did--though I bet we have completely different takes on why that is. And there's a lot of room for argument and interpretation when it comes to that.
We don't need negative hyperbole about Goff to appreciate Stafford. I certainly know where I come down on both those things.
