I didn't "guess," I remember my NFL history.
It quite simple not rare for college LOTs to play ROT in the NFL. I listed 2 notable recent examples. Sewell needs to look at actual NFL experience--which no doubt the coaches are saying to him. As in hey newbie, there is nothing at all uncommon about this.
Can you imagine whining as a rookie about playing right tackle when Detroit already has an established 1st rounder at LOT?
For that matter every single starting Rams OL except Hav was involved in a position switch. Including AW, who started at guard with the Bengals for 2 seasons.
So, disregard what the player is saying and go with what you see from your couch? You really want to make than argument...even double down that you're right and he's the one who doesn't get it?
Regardless of what other players may or may not have done, this particular player is specifically saying that it feels unnatural and it will take time to acclimate. Which is the point. Maybe he gets there and maybe he won't be right until he's back at his natural position.
Not a good argument. The Detroit coaches who drafted him to play ROT know more about this than the player, you, and me combined--their experience trumps his. Regardless of what he says in May of his rookie year.
And the point was not him saying it feels wrong to him (at first)...the POINT was a poster saying that means it will be a team weakness.
Not very likely. There's a long list of college LOTs who played ROT in the pros and did just fine in their first year.
Which is why I listed examples of position switches in the NFL including college LOTs who play ROT in the NFL. Fact is if you paused for half a second and thought about it, you would remember facts like that. I mean you know more about the NFL than young Mr. Sewell does, use that knowledge. Plus there's the fact as mentioned that the experienced Detroit coaches know all about switching college LOTs to ROT--they've seen it here and there their entire careers.
