The Lions lost their two top WRs this season to FA. They've brought in some other guys who are not rated as highly as Golladay and Jones. It was a step backwards for the Lions.
The other news I heard about yesterday is that they are putting their #1 draft pick, Sewell, at right tackle. In response, Sewell admitted that the change is not going to be easy. I am not an OLine expert but putting a rookie who is not used to RT, and freely admits the difficulty, signifies that that position will be a weakness early in the season.
Detroit had a horrible running game last season and I'm doubtful that it's going to magically improve this year. Surprisingly they released one of their top RBs, K. Johnson but brought in some other potentially good / adequate guys.
HOWEVER!, they just had Todd Gurley visit them. That'd be interesting if he joins them. Overall it looks like their running game is going to be below average again. That puts more weight on Goff.
I've consistently liked Goff and hoped that McVay would have kept working with him for this year. But here in Detroit I see a bad moon arising for the Lions, with or without Goff. Most of the local pundits do as well, and they are far more invested in following them than me.
