If coaching was what held the Lions back (even with Stafford), and what helped turn the Rams around (which I believe it is in both cases), then the Lions have a chance with a new coaching staff.
As far as talent, I think the Lions have more talent in some places once it plays with renewed focus and energy.
Anything's possible but I don't think it's as simple as just changing the coaching staff. Personally, I don't see Campbell as the same type of potential that McVay had. Campbell's an ex-player so that might work in his favor but he doesn't really have a history of coaching exceptional units. He may be a great delegator and get the Lions on track but it doesn't seem like he's got that kind of potential that some coordinators have. Understandably didn't do much as the Dolphins interim HC and has only really ever been a position coach.
Like I said, maybe he can pull everything together but for a team that has historically struggled, I'd imagine a guy who had a real specialty on offense of defense that could help carry him through the learning curve would stand a better chance at success.
