I can't see the Rams agreeing to such a deal. Much too low of a return. The Trade Value Chart which is still gospel in the NFL says exactly what you say: pick 88 in return. That said, I just don't think the Rams are going to be after increasing the number of picks they have. With 11 picks, I can actually see them reducing that number to 9 or 10 with packaging some picks to move up to get someby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Assuming a healthy Kupp, there is no way a rookie WR is going to make the group of Kupp, Nacua and Robinson better. He won't beat out Kupp or Nucua, and it would be one heck of a task to learn the routes and offense fast enough to unseat Robinson who was really performing well last year. There's only so many balls to go around, and the Rams didn't invest heavily in IOL to be pass heavy. The oby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Trading down 5 spots only would net the Rams a late 3rd round pick. Trading all the way down to the final pick of round 1 would only net a late 2nd round pick. Sometimes a team will trade the pick and add a late draft pick to get equal chart value, even when trading down. So, really, the Rams aren't going to get any more than a mid to late top 100 pick by trading down. Would they find that eby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Not sure why the derision of Allen. The poor guy dealt with serious injuries that he worked very hard to overcome. But, it reached the point that from a cost standpoint, and a value versus availability standpoint, he became a bad bet and so the Rams did what they had to do. That said, he was a good NFL Center.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Just because the media and the pundits have more or less decided the top guys at each position, and the order of their talent level on a Big Board, doesn't mean the Rams see it that way. We don't know anything about these guys' medicals, some character traits or incidents or even criminal history that the Rams security team knows about, and how the Rams have evaluated each player's desire, foby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
It's not unusual for a drafted Center to begin by playing Guard as part of a development plan. The reason is that there is so much to learning the line calls. Some teams have the QB make the line calls. But, the Rams have been letting Allen and Shelton do it. So, Avila will be expected to do that. I suspect that last year the Rams had Avila at Guard with Center in mind eventually. Butby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
As I walk down the list of teams, thinking about their rosters, and what various publications say about it, it seems to me that the Rams are in an excellent position in that they do not have immediate need of QB, Oline, WR, or CB. But, nearly every team in front of us does need one these positions. If this proves to be true, then it is going to push top level Edge and DT down to us at 19, andby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Snead does not, and never has, drafted on BPA. He drafts for need. He's said it over and over again. He will the take the BPA within a pod of players based on team need at a specific position or two. Of course, how I see the greatest need, or any of us see the greatest need, versus how Snead/McVay see it may be different. Like when they drafted Tutu. Here was the best Center in the draby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
After reading what so many of the NFL guys and good analysts say, both in their opinions of the players, and in their mocks, here is the group from which the Rams are bound to select one of them: Latu, Verse, Chop Robinson, Newton, Murphy Probably at least 2 of these guys, maybe even 3, will be there at 19 enabling the Rams to stand pat and not have to trade up. Would it enable them to traby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Not saying he has built his reputation on his father's name, but it can't hurt. We'll just to wait and see how his game translates to the NFL. Of course, one of the biggest components of his success is going to be the QB throwing to him, and the proficiency of the NFL team he goes to. The great WRs all had great QBs throwing to them. And, vice versa I suppose. It all works together.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
So, we've probably taken this about as far as we can because none of us know what the heck happened. I'm definitely NOT rooting against him. I just have major doubts that he can have an NFL career as a QB with what has happened. Another position probably would have a little higher odds in his favor. But, in this world, I never say never.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
That's a nice thought, but if you were suspended for a year from your practice, and I were a potential patient, I'd sure the heck want to know why. It's just like defendants that take the 5th. I think it is really putting the cart before the horse declaring a college prospect generational. How about he comes in to the NFL, goes up against NFL CBs, safeties, and coaching first. Heck. Did he even set any NCAA records? None that I'm aware of. Oh, the kid is a good WR. But every year guys are declared generational and they don't turn out anywhere near that. IMO this has a low chance of success. To leave the team and sit out a year, refuse to disclose why to your teammates (and clearly there is no way McVay told them or it would long ago have leaked out) and then want to come back to the ultimate team leadership position? Playing well is only one factor. Bennett has much to overcome to convince his coaches and teammates that he can be trusted witby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I totally agree that it's hard to imagine the Rams drafting 11 guys and then adding them all to the roster. But, it gets even more outlandish when you consider how well the Rams have done in UDFA pick ups. And then add 2 or 3 Vet castoffs that can very likely be had on the cheap. Something's gotta give. So, I agree that it seems unlikely that Les wants MORE picks, so we could see the Ramsby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
If I'm the Rams, I stay far away from Murphy. Anyone with that big of an ego, and honestly sees himself as good or better than the best DT ever to play the game (at least in the modern era), will NOT be a we not me guy. Even AD never thought that highly of himself. And, I don't even think he's the best DT let alone the best one for the Rams. My take is that it is Newton. My son thinks it's Swby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
The issue will be how long Matthew wants to play. Not the Rams wanting to go cheaper and younger. He is signed through 2026 so contract is not really going to be the issue. And even in his final year, the number is $49.5mil which is quickly becoming the median of QB salaries and far from the higher end.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I think 4 QBs will be selected prior to the Rams pick, and likely 1 more afterward in the 1st round. The Rams certainly will not be one of the teams to pick one. The reality is this. Probably no more than 2 of the QBs even have a 1st round grade. The rest likely 2nd even 3rd round grades. But QBs are so needed and valuable that they are taken a round or two too early. This is perhaps the overby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
When you are drafting, you go after your biggest needs first....not last. And, you can't fix everything you would like to, and have the luxury of looking 1 or 2 years down the road, in one offseason. What are their biggest needs? As this article states: #1Edge, #1b DT. So, the play is to draft a QB? Say, what? The other thing that I strongly disagree with this article about is ignorinby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Especially with a top flight Center sitting there to pick that became an All-Pro in his first year. We were all aghast. And I'll bet dollars to donuts this was purely a McVay call. Don't ever think that McVay's small stature didn't play a role in the decision. I suspect the same kind of little-man bent didn't play a role in picking Bennett. HCs are people too, and have slants towards certby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
A foundational principle of McVay's newly evolved offense is that WRs MUST BLOCK. Tutu can't. He's just too darn small, and if tries he'll get run over like road kill. Plus, he may be fast in a straight line, but clearly he is not elusive. And, he MUST have a bunch of separation to make a play on the ball. With his attributes he can only be used in a limited set of plays. AND....the bigby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com

I doubt anyone will give us anything for him. I think he'll simply be a cut. This is idea that he takes the top off of D's I don't think has ever materialized. He's just a vastly undersized WR and a failed pick.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I, for one, have not thought they'd go WR early. With this signing, it just provides more evidence that WR is not high on their list, which means nowhere in their first 4 picks.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
The odds that even if one drafts a QB at any point in the 1st round that one will get their Franchise QB (which, to me, means a very successful QB that can take you to the Superbowl provided the rest of the team is good enough) are low odds. I honestly don't know, but anecdotally I'd say its no better than 1 in 4. So, all this stuff about getting their next Franchise QB is media talk. Snead aby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
While I always temper my opinions about who the Rams draft with a never-say-never grain of salt, I am just baffled at the fan and draft guru sentiments that the Rams will use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB. If they do, it nearly certainly means Stafford has told the Rams that he'll be retiring after this year. And I would put the odds of that up there with AD coming out of retirement to plaby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I just cannot see the Rams picking a QB that they do not need when bypassing a player they desperately need...an Edge. Snead, I think, would entertain a trade of that pick and probably be pretty ruthless demanding a good return. Something like a 1st round next year plus a 2nd and 3rd this year. Of course, if he didn't get an offer, he'd just pick the player we need be it an Edge (first) or aby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
