Yes exactly. Several of those players the Rams likely don't want

Just because the media and the pundits have more or less decided the top guys at each position, and the order of their talent level on a Big Board, doesn't mean the Rams see it that way.

We don't know anything about these guys' medicals, some character traits or incidents or even criminal history that the Rams security team knows about, and how the Rams have evaluated each player's desire, football IQ, we not me mentality, etc.

Then there is need. Snead has made it crystal clear that he drafts for need, not some mythical BPA regardless of position that happens to be there in any round.

Even more, scheme fit. You can just about bet that some guys that the Big Boards and Mocks show much lower in their stack the Rams see much higher, and vice versa. What we also don't know is if the Rams see some of guys that are rated as 1st or 2nd rounders having darn near their equivalents in the next round or two, that makes trading down or even out of any round, including the 1st, desirable.

And, when we look honestly at the hit rates of each round (that is, how many players chosen actually become competent starters or better), the odds are less than 50/50 in the first round and then drops off each round down the line. So, one has to wonder if extra 2nd and 3rd round picks in exchange for a single 1st round pick isn't the better choice pretty much every draft. Simple math says you have a better chance at winning the Lottery with 2 or 3 plays instead of 1. And while the analogy isn't a perfect one, the long term results say that the draft is far more a crap shoot than we'd like to believe. And last year Snead won the Lottery. By no means does that indicate the same will happen this year.

Bottom line: everything we're all doing is entertaining guessing, and that goes for the pundits as well. About the only thing we can count on is that QBs that have no business being 1st rounders will get picked in the 1st and pretty high because those teams at the top of the draft are desperate for QB help. After that, who the heck knows?
