In modern cookie cutter neighborhoods, they are almost a must, IMO.

Because people are pretty much Dirt Bags these days. I have seen tooooooo many brand spanking new subdivisions here in Florida go to hell in hardly 5 years. One in SIX MONTHS! That Subdivision had a house that the owners painted BARNEY purple with green shudders! I mean ...HOAs are a must for people who REALLY care about their investment of buying a home. If unkept yards, yards with trash and 6 cars parked on dirt don't bother people? More power to them. Myself?? If I ever leave this house, I'm HOPING to be in your situation...PLENTY of space next door. The ex and I built in a new area 22 years ago and I have sworn I will NEVER EVER build in a Subdivision ever again.

I mean......What the hell happened??? I remember when I was a kid in the 70s, EVERYONE gave at least HALF a damn about their houses and property. Every block had maybe that one yard that looked like garbage. These days, in NON HOA areas, you are doing good to find 5- 6 homes on a block that look decent.

I have heard of INSANE HOA fees that are around $400-$500 / month here in Florida.

I am REALLY holding my breath with my street. Reminds me of my old neighborhood.

Ramgator107April 05, 2024 10:41AM

I can see the double edge sword of HOAs. On one hand.....
