No idea about this Draft at all yet. But philosophically taking a center at #53 or 57 or wherever they end up could be a very positive move. Top centers rarely come off the board before #20-30 in the Draft so in the 50s you can usually get the 2nd or at least 3rd highest rated center in the Draft. It's a critical position that impacts the entire OL.
I have liked Blythe the past 4 years but I think perhaps he has worn down physically somewhat this year. The interior OL had some pretty dominant performances the first 10-12 games this year and less so since. Not unlike Sullivan when he was here who was very good the first 10-12 games and faded later.
The Rams will not be in position to go spend big FA money on a center so exploring the Draft is a good thing.
Personally, I don't think they have to be a top 5 offense to be Super Bowl-calliber. Just get back into the top 10- and to me that is as simple as fixing the turnovers problem, upgrading at center, adding a WR4 that is a deep threat and having a better run blocking TE2. Maybe I'm oversimplifying but that's what I see.
That AND get the special teams out of the basement. Again, don't have to be a top 5 unit like they were 2013-2018. But they can't be a
bottom 10 unit. Finding Gay is at least a positive step there. But more work to do for sure and I think Bonamego clearly has to go.
