We lost to a crappy Falcons team who stood up for one game and advanced instead of us.
Also tbh man the term "outcoached" is a BS term used to gloss over things you don't want to go deeper into. Do you realize that all these teams run the same plays? Even with different verbology it's all the same thing, it's described differently but the route combinations are laid together and are seen in similar instances based on down/distance and what you want to accomplish. Come up with something brand spanking new that works and the very next week everyone in the league is running it.
That my friend is today's NFL.
So what makes the special offensive minds special then? Two things.
1. Ability to teach and translate scheme to the field. So the players can win with it.
2. Ability to attack the defense by using its own rules and personnel weaknesses to put your players in position to succeed.
Remember the Fisher days? When we whined about poor Bradford and another new OC and how that would be so hard for him to learn a new language and all that nonsense? What happened when McVay came in here? Instant translation to the field.
McVay can rattle off things about every player on your defense if you're his opponent. The dude lives and breathes game film. Do you honestly think he's not capable of that second point?
Fans love focusing on play calls but like I always say if it works we don't hear a thing about it. So the truth is there really isn't a bad play call if your players can execute it is there.
