Heres my take

January 05, 2021 11:24AM
Draft a QB or bring in a FA to compete with Jared. How would I do that?

1) Desmond Ridder from Cincinnati - I want this kid. When I think about the Rams I often think about them as Kronke might. $$$ The Rams need to continue winning but they need a star player. They need excitement... they need someone people can identify with. Someone with some swagger, moxie, energy whatever you want to call it. Draft this kid to mold him until about mid-season next year and then let him lose in McVay's offense. He would instantly upgrade this run game and make them dynamic. I can only imagine him with Cam Akers

2) Go get Mathew Stafford. Stafford is an elite talent that has never worked for a top tier head coach. Stafford would instantly upgrade this offense with his dynamic playmaking - arm and legs. My biggest fear is that Shannahan will get him. This is not likely to happen (for Rams) but it is 2nd on my list of upgrades.

Both of these moves would instantly upgrade the Rams oline. INSTANTLY - The threat that they bring with their legs will no longer allow defenses to attack the Rams oline and by extension either Ridder or Stafford the way they do the way they can now to Goff.

3) Bring in Gardner Minshew to compete with Goff - I like Minshew he reminds me a bit of Warner with the way he throws the ball but he's more athletic. He is not Kurt Warner but watching him he reminds me of him stylistically. He also plays with emotion and I believe he would be an upgrade to Goff. But hey that’s me.

4) All of this is out the window should Wolf turn into Vince Ferragamo and lead the Rams to the SB (lol)

All of these moves (1-3) make this offense much better IMO without any other changes. No change to center, no adding a speed WR

Yes, this is how much I think Goff's limitations physically and from the head up hold this offense back.

Now that being said - The Rams really could use a top-flight center or one that is an upgrade from Blythe. I think they can work with the other pieces... but at some point, they have to replace Whit right? Nooteboom is not the answer. So if Whit is done they have to address LT. Is that player on the roster?

The Rams could use some speed on the outside. Plenty of teams have won the SB without it and some prolific offenses like the Pats under Brady and the Saints with Brees have won a ton without having that speed threat. So this is not critical IMO for the Rams it is a want.

Lastly – (this must happen) The Rams must change their approach to running the ball. They must become more physical in their run game (a top 10 center is critical to making this happen).... they can do that by adding more power blocking concepts and emphasize them... don't pay lip service to it... but make it a priority. The Rams offense must be diverse. I think that adding a more dynamic QB will help the run game as well. Adding either Stafford or Ridder would be a nice shot of steroids from this run game and pass offense. The day of this offense being dead because the QB has a bad day must end. They have to be able to dictate with their run game. With chunk yards like others teams think 49ers, Ravens, Browns, Titans

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.... yes I believe that the problem with the offense is the lack of a dynamic enough QB and that if things stayed the same improving the type of QB would elevate the offense significantly.

DZ, merlin, moklerman,, James, and Dead (others)... I know you guys won't agree with me 100% but talk to me... give me some feedback regarding what I’m saying here

I want to know your thoughts
