I'm with you on your list and think the Rams probably have an ordered concept that is similar. Some minor caveats here IMO:
1. I do think the OL is the most critical part of all of it for one reason: it can fix the run and pass game. OL chemistry is one of the biggest factors in the rise and fall of team fortunes in the NFL. Nobody is a genius without an OL. The Rams need help at Center now, and we need a LT of the future. LT sadly I would put on the backburner for the 2022 draft when we return to the first round. Center I would draft in this year's draft. Improving at Center would have a profound effect on this team.
2. Agreed that we need QB competition. Wolford did look good btw vs Arizona so there is no reason to waste valuable draft capital to get competition if he can provide it (But if we do I like Minshew a ton as a fit). Wolford has one year remaining and I think competes with Goff in camp next year. But we have to wait for the playoffs to finish because this is the moment that defines who you want at QB. IMO they will play Goff as soon as they can to give him a chance to show he's the guy to lead us in the playoffs. He's a vet QB this is his moment. But the nice thing is if the bad Goff starts the game McVay will use the hook. That is good for us.
3. In regard to QB fits what McVay will prioritize is field vision (one area where the bad Goff has struggled), quick through reads (this too) and accuracy. I also think super smart QBs is something he would prize greatly. And you know what's sort of ironic? That if you listed Wolford's top strengths he'd have some of that stuff. He's got good vision and reads very quickly. He's a smart dude, the coach on the field type you often get with under-talented depth types. Just not sure he's got the arm to where teams won't be able to shrink the field on him we'll see.
And I want to discuss one other thing here that IMO is lost as perspective... McVay is so good that we just made the playoffs in a rebuild year where we moved on from two high end players and changed the defensive scheme. There aren't a lot of coaches who could do what he just did. Media was down on us for a reason, I mean how often does a team pull off jettisoning big time contract players as well as a Hall of Fame DC and still win 10 games the next season.
We are blessed. And the future is still bright not only next year but right now in the playoffs.
