You lost me when you brought up Mahomes.
Goff and Mahomes right now aren’t in the same zip code.
Mahomes is arguably one of the top 3 QBs ever.
At 25 years old, Goff is in the same zip code as any NFL QB.
If I had to draft any QB in the NFL today, Goff would be my #1 pick.
Lets see how Mahomes and all the other higher rated QB's do this year.
Max was wrong when he thought I put Goff and Mahomes in the same category. I don't do that and I didn't do that here. He just misread. But then I don't put anyone in the Mahomes category, just Mahomes.
But I also think Goff is a good qb in his own right.
I'm not with those who put Goff in the top tier. But I also don't think he has to be that.
I am not with those who disparge him either. I think they're overlooking a lot of things.
I don't think 2019 is who he is. If you collapse the OL and can't run, he gets knocked down a peg or two. But just a decently solid OL and a run game and he steps right back up. I think he's capable of being a top 10 qb.
One way to look at it is to see how many bad games other top qbs had in their 4th year. I will count bad games, just for convenience sake, as a qb rating under 80. In 2019 Goff had 6 of those...though they stopped in the last 5 games when the 2nd 2019 OL stepped up a bit.
Brady's 4th year? 5 games with a rating under 80.
Rivers? 9 games.
Ryan? 5 games.
Stafford? 8 games.
Peyton? 4 games.
So it's not rare for a qb to do that in year 4.
