Anyway. Jackson getting injured is not the same thing and not what I was asking about....
It may not be what you asked about.....but it is a result of 'wear and tear'. You don't realize wear and tear being culmulative, doesn't go away because of the off season. As a result, you're hung up on that week 1 angle.....like wear and tear doesn't play a part, no matter what point in the season we're in. Or worse. That wear and tear plays no part what-so-ever. Like Orlando Pace in week 1 of 2007. He tore his triceps in 2006 missing the last 8 games. I'm sure he was limited in his ability to lift weights. And on opening day 2007 he tore his labrum and rotator cuff. Was it just a freak thing or was it cumulative wear and tear?
Faulk and Holt experienced the same thing. As their football careers unfolded they were exposed to wear and tear in their knees. Bone on bone eventually. No specific injury to speak of but their knees deteriorated over time anyway. Same with Gurley and his ACL. The fact he experienced pain in week 1 after an entire off season is really not that surprising, particularly because of his being held out of preseason. It might have been destined anyway and the fact it didn't happen in preseason is because he didn't play in preseason. Forget the week 1 thing. It's irrelevant. But that seems to be an important fact in your take on things.
He's had an ACL tear. He will have complications down the road. We're part way down the road. It should be no surprise and it doesn't have to be as complicated as you make it.
