I’ve been on this board everyday and I don’t see much doom and gloom.
Show me one post that says we’re back to square one.
Where are the posts that say we need to fear the Niners or Hawks?
Where are the posts portraying doom and gloom because there is concern about Gurley’s potential arthritic knee? Just because someone notices that Gurley has had health issues doesn’t mean they think we’re back to being cellar dwellers.
IOW, commenting on a players very real health issues isn’t synonymous with doom and gloom unless it’s accompanied by exaggerated pronouncements of the teams imminent demise. I haven’t seen that. Show me where you have.
Where are the posts that say we have no TEs? I recall one or two several months ago but nothing recently and I’ve mostly seen excitement and optimism about our draft haul from the main ‘No TE’ proponent.
Personally I see more expectation that we are now a perennial power house team. There are posts talking about how good McVay is and how he and Snead work so well together. There are posts talking about how we’re drafting so well now, there is actually trust in the front office to do it right even when we’ve never heard of players. I’m scratching my head because I’m really seeing the opposite of doom and gloom on the board.
In fact, I can confidently say I don’t recall a time I’ve seen so much optimism on this board.
This may be one of those issues where it depends on how you tend to see things in the first place. So for example, in politics, someone on the left/right is always going to see a moderate as too right/left.
From my perspective, there IS NO "doom and gloom." We have seen that in years past and that is not what's here.
BUT for some people things on the board might not be optimistic ENOUGH for THEIR tastes. Meanwhile for others, that view itself might seem like it is looking for signs of gloom that are not there. So it goes.
There is the occasional issue. For some, Goff was too disappointing in the last few games. They are in prove it mode when it comes to him.
Saying there could be something wrong with Gurley is not writing off the season. On Gurley, I am one of the one's saying there could be something wrong (which is light years from saying he is "walking on a cane." ) (I think it's a walker, not a cane.) (Kidding.) That doesn't write off the season though, even if things with Gurley himself turn out to be worse case. I am one of the ones saying look closely at what happened with TG (his knee flared up two times last season, not one) but I personally don't think that even if he turns out to be worse case, that condemns the season. They will just have to rely on other improvements, like a refining of the passing game and the defense stepping up a notch...all of which is do-able.
So anyway. No there is no doom and gloom. I've seen doom and gloom, and this, sir, is no doom and gloom.
But there are some people more hesitant about things (like Goff) than others like, given how THEY see things.
My view? A good board is always a mix of views and that is not only good, it should be expected.
