"7-the next 2 games...saints and pats our O-Line doesn't match up....This is when the big deal with TGIII starts.....what happened to TGIII but at the same time nobody asks or questions what happened to CJ.....the point that both need to succeed was the O-Line..."
This doesn't explain why Gurley was essentially benched.
Against the Saints CJ got 16 carries and 1 catch, Gurley got 4 carries and 1 catch.
Against the Pats CJ got 7 carries and 2 catches. Gurley got 10 carries plus 1 catch.
Gurley averaged 16 carries and 3.7 catches a game during the regular season. But in those 2 games he averaged 7 carries and 1 catch.
From where I sit it makes no sense to bench a guy who was in the MVP discussion thru 12 games simply because the OL was struggling. In fact, I would think the superior back (Gurley) would have more success behind a struggling OL.
Agree that the OL struggled in these 2 games, but it was simply a coaches decision to use CJ more than Gurley. I can't explain why Gurley would ride the pine so much if he was healthy. Anyone got an explanation for that?
