You make several great points. OA of the knee doesn't just happen one day. The Rams had to know what the status of his knee was before they signed his extension. Those players don't have any part of their body that is not radiographically imaged on a regular basis.

I find it hard to believe the Rams knew that Gurley might have a chronic condition before he signed the extension.

I just dont think that they would have signed him to a "Kobe Bryant" type of cap killing, thank you contract based on his previous performance.

I know that some forms of arthritis can actually show up on certain body scans, and if they detected that his knee was arthritic, Its more reason to think that they dont make that move.
