Joyner became a stud for 1yr....he will get his chance at FA...cuz if 10-11 ain't enough for him, I'm not sure what the rams have allotted for the position - cuz they DO have a budget to kinda stick to....a player does not....he maximizes his wealth...which is the correct counter between labor & Management.
Just sayin, if this was beyond the Rams allotment of money for the position or their future plans...we'll draft a new Safety. Folks forget that JJIII was a 3rd round draft pick that performed well, and is now a secondary cornerstone - after his rookie year. We didn't know what he'd be in the Summer. I could see us drafting another Safety and doin the same thing at FS next year...and letting Joyner walk and get the comp pick in 2020. The Rams will pay up to the cap and have players/position groups they agree a budget for...it makes sense that they stick to it. Other teams and staff have different values/ budgets etc...for a team...all that matters is the success of that team of the HC/GM will get canned. I don't know...I just think there's been a slight seas change in signing long term deals now....
unless they are super-contracts. We'll see if the Rams strategy will work.
