I hear ya, Deacon. And it’s not as if I have a horse in this race. I want the best possible backup for the Rams, too.
Two things.
First, Wolford has been practicing with the ones and has reportedly made great strides over last year. This opinion has been unanimous.
Second, putting him in there against the Texan ones with a vanilla ‘game plan’ and behind our backups (including Evans) was not a fair test. I wouldn’t read too much into his results under those conditions.
McVay seems to prefer Wolford. That’s the bottom line. Perkins has his gifts but I’m not sure he’s best to execute the McVay scheme, tbh. That’s my takeaway, fwiw.
