I agree and would like to believe, most educated NFL fans understand total tackles can grossly be inflated for various reasons. This can also be the case for offensive and special teams stats.

Tackles/Sacks/INT's/Total Yards/TD's/Yds per catch/Yds per carry/Yds per completion and many others.

Wagner's tackles for loss was 3 . . --interesting given that Reeder had 6, Kenny Young had 6, and Jones had 1===13 from out ILB position

I don't think that makes those guys better at all, just means be wary of tackle stats, even the ones for loss . . .

Comparing Reeder and Kenny Young to Wagner based on tackles for loss is irrelevant to me regardless of their annual paychecks.

2022 is a new year and I'm guessing Wagner knows his dollar value is not worth as much to the Rams as it could be for other teams looking for free agent inside linebackers.

I would rather have an over the hill Wagner on the 2022 roster over Reeder and Young 7 days a week if the price is right.

Wagner's tackles for loss in 2021 was 3. (not good) but his tackles for loss in 2020 & 2019 was 7.0.

Wagner's career high in solo tackles: Yes, I know tackles are overrated and especially for LB's.

Career High Solo Tackles
1st most (97) in 2017
2nd most (93) in 2021
3rd most (87) in 2022
4th most (86) in 2019
5th most (84) in 2018

There is a lot of fluff regarding total tackles and solo tackles for NFL linebackers.

Like yourself, I believe Wagner can still be productive but he's not worth overpaying. I would rather allocate spending money on other positions this offseason.

I'm very wary of tackle stats like many other stats when it comes to NFL free agents at the end of their peak careers..

I'm glad the Rams didn't fall in love with Bobby Wagner and offer him a silly big F/A $money$ contract based on total tackles.

I was impressed a little bit by his stats last season even though he only had 3 tackles for loss.

How many of Wagner's Solo Tackles were inflated? I don't know.

I didn't watch Wagner's game film every season. (All 22) film tells a more accurate story but not many of us Rams fans have the time to study all the details of possible free agents visiting the Rams.

2012 Games 16 Solo Tackles 87 INT 3 Sacks 2.0 Tackles for loss 9.5
2013 Games 14 Solo Tackles 72 INT 2 Sacks 5.0 Tackles for loss 4.0
2014 Games 11 Solo Tackles 67 INT 0 Sacks 2.0 Tackles for loss 10.0
2015 Games 15 Solo Tackles 67 INT 0 Sacks 0.5 Tackles for loss 2.0
2016 Games 16 Solo Tackles 85 INT 1 Sacks 4.5 Tackles for loss 7.0
2017 Games 16 Solo Tackles 97 INT 2 Sacks 1.5 Tackles for loss 13.0
2018 Games 15 Solo Tackles 84 INT 1 Sacks 1.0 Tackles for loss 6.0
2019 Games 16 Solo Tackles 86 INT 1 Sacks 3.0 Tackles for loss 7.0
2020 Games 16 Solo Tackles 81 INT 0 Sacks 3.0 Tackles for loss 7.0
2021 Games 16 Solo Tackles 93 INT 1 Sacks 1.0 Tackles for loss 3.0
