I am a create a scheme that best fits your talent. If we have only one good MLB, this kid Jones, then running a 5-1 featuring his sideline to sideline talent makes sense. If we add Wags then we probably run more 2 ILB sets. Maybe we shouldn't compare ascending Jones versus descending Wags. And I don't know if Wags is close to declining. But, if those two play a lot of snaps together, maybe Rapp plays less or one of the younger CBS. Some coaches teach a certain scheme and look for talent to fill those roles. I don't know how our coaches see it. Another thing we don't know is how the Rams young OLBs are internally graded and whether somebody like Lewis is ready to take on the Von role. Or Hollins. Or Garrett. We were all really worried about center and our guy played like an All Pro. There is some worry about CB. Williams made some big plays for us and went elsewhere. Long looked better. We have Burgess. I like DD because he's so scrappy. We might be solid there. We might get a discounted vet later too. I'm not the least bit worried. The great thing is Snead is on the job.
He knows where we could have holes and if we do he will fill them before the draft. He uses the draft to find long range upgrades to play in a couple of years. So, he might draft OL for kids to step in two years from now. He might get another DLine guy for the future. He really likes to maximize his grade at that slot position and move up or down for his targets. He trades firsts for star players and when they leave he uses comp picks to restock. The Rams are great using the cap and comp pick formulas to their advantage. The only reason it all works is Snead nails late round picks. 3-7 is his sweet spot. He is also great at bringing in undrafted FAs. Anyway, I'm not worried. I just enjoy guessing myself and reading yours. BTW, I don't think any of you are stupid. You all contribute to this board where I enjoy spending way too much time.
