I believe the upcoming Supreme Court case you referenced and the situation the NFL currently faces are dissimilar in that universities (at least on its face) were/are SUPPOSED to consider admissions based upon the merits (mostly academic) that are clearly articulated. But this isn't the case with the NFL where the rationale and backgrounds for why HC's have been hired run the gamut. Again...Josh McCown (who hasn't been a head coach ANYWHERE) has had a 2nd interview with the Texans.

But moving on to more of your direct concerns...

It'd be foolish of me to say that I have some magical answer(s). The only thing that I know is that problems (of any type) that are not addressed early and with thoughtful consideration by all stakeholders don't disappear. As a matter of fact, these problems only seem to grow larger and harder and more expensive to fix. And the "fix" isn't much of a fix to begin with and can look ugly (e.g. American healthcare, immigration, homelessness, and affirmative action). But that doesn't mean you stop trying to fix the problem because...well, see the last two sentences. (LOL!) One day I'll share my "plan" to fix homelessness. I might get banned from the board.

Anyways, as I've mentioned in some earlier posts to this thread, if I were the NFL, I'd consider offering compensatory draft picks of some sort to teams that hire minority coaches. This way, you get away from the language that you used of "forcing" owners to do this or that. Assuming GM's and owners are interviewing candidates that are qualified to begin with, it might serve as an incentive to go along with your qualified candidate. I suspect that MOST owners might not take it...preferring to go with an option that makes them feel more "comfortable."

This is fine. I don't believe that Black coaches believe that 70% of the teams should have coaches that look like them. All they/Flores is saying is...you owners have jumped the shark here.

I suspect that there are some other/better ideas out there that don't involve forcing anyone to do anything.
