This problem is so extremely deep, I’m a fool for attempting a take on it, but here it is:
The majority of the people who come up with Black History Month, reparations for slavery and all the other “causes” put out there to “champion” African Americans, are the true racists.
People like me who challenge those attempts at concealing true racism, will be pointed at as the “real” racists and all I try to do is my best at following the Golden Rule. All men/women—in my book—are created in the image and likeness of God, so how you interact with God’s human creatures is how you treat the Artist.
So, here’s an example of the concealed racism from in high (from elitists): Math is racist.
That’s one of the most sinister ploys I’ve ever seen and that didn’t come from the local Saturday night poker game. That probably came from some think-tank.
The “math is racist” proponents even say that they don’t want math in the curriculum because it gives students the notion that they can distinguish between right answers and wrong answers.
But that’s exactly the skill you need when you’re a child!!
So, you’re going to leave these African American children ill-equipped to know whether they’ve been short changed at the cash register, or skewered when looking at the paychecks, or signing the dotted line on an adjustable rate mortgage??
My ancestry is European as is probably most on this board. And if you’ve seen the movie Gladiator, the first scene of that movie shows the savagery and lack of culture and intelligence when the Romans rained down fire upon the Germanic tribes in the forest. Germans were not offered a chance to become a Roman patrician because Romans rightly knew that those Germanic brutes were lacking the capacity to live in a
civitas . Live in a city? These guys dwell in the forest and live hand to mouth. Why would we offer a place in our civil society?
Most African Americans were brought here unwillingly also from a condition of lacking culture and civil intelligence and this is only two to three hundred years removed from our current times.
The Germanic tribes over a period of about
one thousand years finally became cultured and intelligent by embracing Roman and Greek culture and also were civilized by the profession of Christianity.
Now, a lot of African Americans have embraced Christianity and it has helped them to be acclimated into a ultimately Christian founded culture.
But where the Germanic tribes thrived—and thrived over a way longer developmental arc (1,000+ years in contrast to only about 200-300 years)—is African Americans have not been offered the strength of an educational system based on Greek and Roman culture: Logic, Rhetoric, Grammar, Geometry (esp. Euclidean), Arithmetic, Music, Astronomy. These subjects—as taught in the correct manner wherein they should be taught—were what a liberal, aka freeman, were taught. They give the student insight, awareness, confidence to stand up for oneself. And that’s because the best education is the one that allows you to see the world outside you
as it is rather than how someone else tells you how it is in that person’s narrative.
So, African Americans have had fewer centuries, 2-3, to acclimate into a culture that’s been on a developmental arc for the past 2,500 years than the Germanic tribes has, 10 centuries, and started that acclimation into this culture roughly 500 or so years, into that culture’s developmental arc.
Clearly, when talking about cultural development and the unit of measure is
centuries!!, and, on top of that, the very thing a people needs to acclimate—education—is sabotaged, any offer of equal standing in that culture is a sham. And that’s the shame about what options are being offered to African Americans. It’s going to take time and good-will intent. It took Germanic tribes centuries to get up to speed with Roman and Greek culture. But at least we had God fearing people offer us a legitimate education. The African Americans don’t have that good-will offer or so it seems to me.
So, if the NFL really wants to serve its huge base that is composed of African Americans, they should invest in schools that will teach that base how to think, how to express their thoughts and encourage that ever present but sometimes inactive human sense to discover the unknown.
The Rooney Rule is a bandaid on a gaping wound. If the NFL truly cares, they’d be promoting a true education and not some fraud (I’m not saying the NFL promotes this) like math is racist.
And for the potential push back against promoting western culture (Roman and Greek education), the Romans and Greeks got their education from the Babylonians and Egyptians. So, however a man or woman acquires an education that leads them out of a state of ignorance to a state of knowing, whether it’s from the ancient Chinese or from the Indian tradition that goes back 3,000 years, that’s fine. Just make sure you’re getting something that frees you from depending on someone else to give you your thoughts. Seek to know the real world and the means to communicate your insights to others. And if there’s resistance to western culture, just remember different ethnic groups have handed it off, from one to another, and now you have the concepts of western culture in practice all over the world. So, this is not a cultural tradition exclusively for Romans and Greeks.
I realize this post can be twisted by others as being insensitive or racist and if that’s the judgment of the board, I’ll gladly delete it.
But I really think a cause like this should be advanced by the NFL as opposed to pretending to care.
