It all looks good and makes a statement but the only change I can see is Mandatory Minority hires. Does anyone on here see that happening? Unless it does, this topic is simply gridlock in the NFL.

I'm not sure why Ramgator, but you seem to be approaching this as some sort of zero-sum game position (i.e. the NFL can't force team owners to hire minority head coaches so that's that). FWIW...I agree with the notion that you shouldn't force anyone to hire a minority. But you seem to act as though there's absolutely no space between the NFL doing things to ensure that qualified minority candidates are given fair opportunities...and ignoring a system where they clearly aren't.

I mean...what do you think happened the second the league enacted a salary cap? Why, the wealthier team owners began to lobby for exceptions to weaken it, right? Do you ever wonder why you pay more in income taxes than a billionaire?

The point I'm making is this...just because team owners are circumventing the Rooney Rule (which it seems that most folks agree is what is happening here), that doesn't mean that there aren't other ideas out there that might incentivize what we're all (hopefully) looking for (i.e. that the best candidate gets the job regardless of what they look like).

For example...someone in this thread brought up the issue of compensatory draft picks. Some GM's, like Les Snead, have feasted off of these picks to make their team better - either by packaging them up to maneuver in the draft...or as cheaper labor for specific positions. Who knows...this might be the extra ammo a GM/Team President needs to have to convince the team owner (who's concerned about "appearances" to hire a qualified minority HC. Or maybe not...damn the extra 3rd round pick and roll with _____________ because...well, because he looks the part.

Just saying that there's likely some space between the two extremes that could get the NFL out of this situation.
