You say there are no buts then you add in a but to the offense. Yes the D gave up 23 to the jets. At that same time the jets were in the red zone how many times and came away with 3's instead of TD's. IMO that is what kept us in the game, so even though the D played poorly they kept us in the game. If the D was really bad those 3's would/could have been TD's and the final possession by us would have been moot.
The offense had less than 100 yards in the 1st half against the jets D. The same D that gave up 40 the week before. As bad as the game went the punt team miraculously put us in a great position because the "bad" D made them punt. The O came out with a chance to redeem it all and they blew it, the offense blew it, not the D, not the ST, the O blew the chance.....They scored 23, yes they did....we should have gotten them in the end...the O failed us.
Big plays are main parts of games played in these times....many times a team must come up with key plays at the end to win close games. Sometimes a better team has issues with a lesser team, that's why they play the entire game. Many times a team must come up with big plays to win it, our D did that with that forced punt with 4 to go, the ST did it with that return to the 43, it's the O that did not do the big plays at the end to pull it out.
It's that simple, yes the D did not play up to snuff, that happens, it can happen against anyone at any time, but again they did do what was needed when it was most crucial, so did our anemic/dead ST's.....it was the O that laid the rotten egg to finish off the RAMS....not the D, not the ST.....
