3rd and 4 - no one is open. Everyone's well covered. The throw to Akers is probably the best choice, but Jets have good coverage and it's not a great throw. Too far outside for Akers to have a chance.

I think you can criticise the throw there but not really the choice.

The 4th and 4 throw is, unfortunately, ugly.

If Goff looks to his left Akers is open and picks up the first down and probably 5 to 10 more down the sideline. That's the easy quick throw and the most likely successful outcome.

If Goff goes for the slant to Reynolds the first down is there with an accurate throw. Reynolds has inside leverage. I guess the DB could get a hand in there. But it probably wins.

Kupp is covered and while an easy throw would probably be tackled before the first down. Good choice to avoid him.

Woods breaks open down the seam pretty much the second Goff starts his throw to Everett. If Goff waits a beat longer he's got Wood for something like 25 yards and he's wide open. He may well score.

The throw to Everett is, sadly, much like the play at the end of the Niners game, clearly predetermined from the snap. Goff doesn't look elsewhere. It's one on one and the DB makes a good play and a slightly underthrown pass.

But - ugh - two receivers EASILY open, one for a big game. And one other receiver almost certainly gets you the first down.

In key late situations in the losses to the Niners and the Jets Goff clearly is going to his target A from the snap without looking elsewhere. In season 5 that's a big concern.
