Well actually they do...Coach Williams said it in a article that was posted here in the HERD. That is what part of preseason is about seeing what you have during preseason games. Training camp can't give you that.

Of course they dedicate time to seeing how their rookies and younger vets are doing, to evaluate them. That means they do not gameplan ps games and instead just go vanilla and see if players can play.

Whether or not Mannion should start with the 1s is a different issue. That's not "put young players in with other young players with the 2s, 3s, and 4s and see how they do in game situations." That's what Wms meant and they ARE doing THAT with Mannion.

But when fans discuss Mannion and say "they should see what they have" they mean something different from that. They mean the team should alter its plans at qb and give a start with the 1s to a 3rd qb who looked good. That is what I am debating, and that is not what Wms meant.

Because it's qb it's a different situation---they need to fine tune the provisional starter/#2 veteran guy, they need to get the high picked rookie up to speed. Putting Mannion in alters that plan.

In terms of what WILLIAMS meant---see how guys look live--well they DID do that with Mannion. They gave him a half against Dallas.

In terms of fans wanting the Rams to alter the qb plan and give valuable qb reps to Mannion with the ones (so a different meaning of "see what they have" and not what Wms meant)...I am just saying, they are far more likely to stick with the qb plan, and for good reason.
