Define recent.
2022 is this season. 2021 is last season. 2023 is next season.
When the 2023 season starts it will then be this, 2022 will be "last season"
and then 2021 will be the season before last
All are recent, they are comparatively close to the present.
What is not recent is something that is not comparatively
close to the present.
I honestly don't think trying to define last season as not being recent
helps your case.
As has been pointed out, the point of all this has not changed.
You are upset at 2022 Fine. Be mad at it and McMorriSnead
If you think the 2022 injuries are normal, then fine. I say
they have never happened in recent history (since 1966)
maybe it has happened before that, but Elias and others
didn't track if before that.
In that context "recent" is in the context of the history of the NFL
over 100 years.
In other contexts recent can mean 5 years, i.e. "Recently
the Rams have been to two Super Bowls, 2018 and 2021"
That is a true statement with proper usage of the word recently.
"In the past, 1999 and 2001, they also played in two Super Bowls"
Also correct.
Can you honestly say "The Rams won a Super Bowl in 2021 but
not recently? is any representation of the truth?
Is that accurate and proper use of the word?
