Let me piggyback onto my own post and say the good thing about Morris’ philosophy is it prevents games from becoming track meets. The thing that bugged me about Coryell’s Chargers is they could score at will. And so could the other team.
If McVay can figure out how to get out of no man’s land (bad field position) and run up points like the Golden State Warriors, he’s got the right defensive coordinator to lock in a big win.
But it’s McVay’s job to figure how to use that strength as a strength.
Some of his play calls are maddening. His team is in a hole and he’s still putting it all on red.
He needs to master small moves to retain possession of the ball.
they could run the ball with consistency, they've never replaced him. Not only his running
he was a great receiver they could keep the ball moving with and he could make guys
miss. . . .
Part of it, as you say could be play calling, but also they just have not gotten what they
expected from Akers . . . and of course the line injuries.
IMO the Rams need
stable line---need to spend high picks on oline
pass rush---not sure where the sweet spot is
but have to emerge from the top 3 picks
with edge, IOL and CB
in whatever order they can get best - they need
to resist the temptation to go skill positon
with those three IMO
