***I get it but if you have 3 HOF'ers on your unit, is it not realistic to expect a Top 10-12 Defense regardless of the o? Also, I don't remember our D being anything "special" during the beginning of the year. In fact, against Buffalo, they looked horrible. I also can't agree it was all on the D that kept us in games for 3 qtrs. Sometimes it was also due to the other teams ineptitude. Besides, games last for 4 quarters last I checked. Not 3. Not fair to judge on partial games IMO.***
You can have 3 HOF'ers, but it won't guarantee you a top defense especially if there is a significant drop off on the other 9 players. You can scheme against 3. Especially in the passing game and this is a passing league. Tougher to scheme a run plan against the 3 especially if they are center line. Which, not surprisingly, the Rams were pretty good against the run.
Against Buffalo, it is fair to say that the ENTIRE Rams team looked bad. Again, offense scored only 10 points and the Oline was crap.
The 3 quarters remark was just for people who complain that the Rams gave up a winning drive.. especially against Tampa Bay.
And then in the second Niners game, the team basically packed it in the 4th quarter. When the Offense couldn't move, can see how deflating that was.
But fine, I'll include all 4 quarters in the following data points.
From Buffalo to Tampa Bay Game when Stafford was playing...
This was the Rams Scoring Defense 17.75 pts per game.
#1 Scoring defense in the league for 2022 was the Niners at 16.3 pts
#2 Bills at 17.9
So Rams, were one pace to be the #2 Scoring Defense in the League. Hard to not be better than that.
