Stafford is a gamer.. he won't sit. But at this rate, he'll be forced to sit due to injury. Backups should have been put in for a series or two.. until McVay figure out his play calling. Putting Stafford to work McVay things out, when clearly Stafford wasn't comfortable was short sighted. This is one game against a really good defense where the game plan went to the crappers along time ago.by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
QuoteGuard watching the one where you don't replace a starting Super Bowl winning QB with a career 3rd string backup, just because we have a sieve of an O-Line and no running game. So we obviously see both Stafford's ability and Wolford's ability vastly different. No probs.... I see the flow of the game.. and the way it was being called on both sides of the ball as well as the way Stafforby h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
QuoteGuard it's like we're watching an entirely different game than some other folks. I dunno... What game are you watching?by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
I'd trade FGs for TDs... just need an offense to score TDs.by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
And people will blame the Defense, when the offense can't score.by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
QB scrambles will get yards. Need to move the pocket. Stafford is just a sitting duck.by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
Bring in Wolford for a few series to change the pace and get some first downs with some QB runs.by h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
we need the offense to do something positive. All these 3 and outs are not goodby h2omelonhead - Game Time Forum
yeah, that's what I don't understand about that next gen stat. don't know when they consider separation as well... after the top of the route? during the route? Also, if you are small guy like Tutu... his catch radius is so much smaller and won't be able to use his body to shield defenders... so you would require him to be at the top of the WR list for separation. If you are big bodied liby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Can he play guard and block well? Stafford isn't comfortable in the pocket. If McCutcheon and block Parsons and give Stafford time, then for sure, start him. But trolling out another receiver isn't going to help Stafford.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
even worse than I thought #14 runs a horrible route, Russell never comes off him. Option #1 was the rub and he just said, eff the play.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
This is classic Russell Wilson. This play has 2 man beaters... one at the top and then 1:1 at the bottom. Russell is focused on the bottom receiver, most likely because he sees 1:1 and then he thinks the Safety is going to help on the outside receiver who is going to swing in with the help of a rub route. However, this is why Russell is overrated. He doesn't think that he can look offby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
2-3 yards is alot of separation in the NFL. NFL QBs don't need 2-3 yards of separation... especially good ones. Think about how long 2-3 yards is. If he's running a quick slant and he's at the 30 and the defender is at the 28.. he's open. Usually defenders are draped over a receiver on a quick slant.. less than half a yard.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
A Woods with Goff in McVay's previous offense... yes. A Woods with Stafford... less so. Woods wasn't getting more targets with Stafford. Stafford is part of the issue imo.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
From what I've seen.. it's more #3. ARoB is open and available on many plays... Stafford for some reason doesn't see him. Was definitely apparent in game #2.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
In looking at some plays over the past few games.. Arob is more open than not... Stafford just doesn't see him.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Well Patriots have historically ran alot of Man. They have been dropping in % Man coverages though, but still should be one of the highest in the league. Very few teams can do what they do though. They have alot of flexibility and can run a variety of mix zone coverages too. Plus they have a very good video staff. :)by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Like I said before, against the Niners, I worry more about the offense than the defense. FGs instead of TDs Empty possessions Turnovers Rams' offense performance impacts the defense. This team needs to score TDs and control the game early.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Not the defense I'm worried about more... it's the offense. If the offense doesn't score TDs and put pressure on Garoppolo, then it will be back to the slog of a game we are used to seeing. While not ideal, I don't mind if the defense is on the Field alot.. as long as the Ram's offense is scoring TDs. OL needs to block and Stafford needs to be on.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Josh Allen and the Bills will kill in Man coverage. He has like one of the highest passer ratings against blitz/man. Unless you have a bunch of lock down secondary, the theory is that you will need to mix zone coverages and hope that he reads it wrong. Cover 2, Cover 3 and Cover 6 are more suitable with probably Cover 6 more ideal. But that coverage is tough to get it right and you could beby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
You can play the contrarian angle, but at the end of the day, you will need to have a QB that has the threat of the accurate long ball and can recognize the coverage immediately. It's not like teams are playing zone all day long. They are still mixing their coverages. Teams in general will start with a cover 2 look pre snap, but will move into different coverages at snap. Look at week 2 Pby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Makes sense.. that's why the Rams defensive game plan makes sense. Kyler Murray is the 3rd best QB against the Blitz. He's also the #1 deep passer last year. Also a threat to run. when you factor all of these together, you are testing his patience and ability to dink/dunk. holding him to zero TDs is a win.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes... with the offensive rules... against good QBs: Holding them to a FG is a win a Stop is a big win a 3 and out Stop is a big big win League wants to see scoring. They don't want 11-10 Denver/49er games. Defense will be handcuffed until then. Yards/TOP doesn't matter as much. Need a high scoring offense.. fast or slow, doesn't matter. Capable of getting touchdowns.. whichby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
the defensive game plan was pretty clear. Arizona was going to get yards. It was a matter of: Would Murray be patient enough to throw underneath Would Rams defense breakdown and let receivers go past them when Murray is out of the pocket It can be frustrating to watch, as everyone wants 3 and outs... but it was effective. Murray did take the underneath routes And Rams in general, didby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
3 straight running plays. I guess they don't trust their 250M QB to ice the game.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
Is it me or does Takk look really small? He is listed as 6'2" 260, but on the line, he looks like a small LB. Floyd is 6'5 240 but Takk looks skinnier. Anyway, looks like he lacks power in the plays he was in.by h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
That is true... and what you hope for is: 1) you don't get shot many times (Games) 2) you don't get shot during important games like playoffs and super bowl No defense is going to be perfect for every game. Sometimes, the game plan doesn't work.. or the players don't execute. How do you defend Josh Allen? You go man, you get burnt. Worse, you blitz the heck out of him and go Cover-Oby h2omelonhead - RamsFootballFans.com
From Nathaniel Hackett's horrible decisions for Denver to Joe Lombardi's (OC) lack of awareness of personnel availability for the Chargers... just mind boggling how these people get these jobs. There football lineage seems to matter more than their capabilities. Sucks for someone like Raheem Morris to watch this and get passed up on for these hacks. In the Chargers/Chiefs game...
