2-3 yards is alot of separation in the NFL.
NFL QBs don't need 2-3 yards of separation... especially good ones.
Think about how long 2-3 yards is.
If he's running a quick slant and he's at the 30 and the defender is at the 28.. he's open.
Usually defenders are draped over a receiver on a quick slant.. less than half a yard.
