Probably a lot... Depending on the trade terms, the Rams could be on the hook to pay the bulk of his salary. Remember the Rams were smart to get Bortles as a backup for less than a million because the Jags were on the hook for the rest. If you can get Goff as a cheap backup and competition to your starter AND maybe draft capital as well. Good move if you can pull off the right terms.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agree 1000% not the way you start it. What if they did what you mention behind closed doors and it didn't work? You tried the carrot... is this the stick? I think it's an interesting alternative narrative that could have some truth to it.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Ugg you beat me by 1 minute in posting :-). here is the link: Btw, the title of the video is click bait. Cowherd doesn't mention they will trade him. Here is my discussion from the other thread: This could be a hybrid of what everyone is saying where one end is they want him out versus the other end saying this is to light a fire. Maybe the Rams do want to keep Goff as he isby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Colin has a very well reasoned opinion that all of this is to get Goff to restructure his contract in a team favorable way. This could be a hybrid of what everyone is saying where one end is they want him out versus the other end saying this is to light a fire. Maybe the Rams do want to keep Goff as he is better than what is out there or they can afford, but if they can drop his cap hiby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay for better or worse is the likely mastermind behind this offense. Kromer is probably the most important to keep. Whoever comes is going to do things the McVay way.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agree it was a gradual build with a potential catalyst event when Goff was benched.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteBearlyThere pretty unlikely... he was also a huge 49ers fan until they snubbed him in the draft. All these QBs being tied to the Rams is all because of a few comments by McVay... Maybe he was 2-3 moves ahead of all of us and knew that by creating the drama, he'd create some opportunities as well? But to be fair--you're not naming "opportunities." QuoteRam_Ruler The most wins thing. Talking him up for suitors. Agreed but that stat would apply to McVay as well wouldn't it?by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He kind of laughed about the question... a reaction when you expect the question and have a prepared response. This is definitely coordinated and aligned with McVay. I can't say what the final outcome is (competition, change, trade, etc). It's clear this is all intentional and coordinated.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm focused on who is the genius behind drafting great TEs. Shanhan was the OC and McVay the TE coach at Washington when Jordan Reed was drafted in 2013 in the 3rd round. Shanhan was HC when Kittle was drafted in the 5th round!! McVay was the HC when Brycen Hopkins was selected last year in the 4th round. Is Hopkins a stud or a dud? Better than Higbee? Reed? Kittle? If heby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLSURAM I get the feeling that the meeting between Goff and McVay in which they disagreed about Wolford starting @Seattle was pretty contentious. I just don’t understand why McVay and Snead are letting the press run with this story. The Rams since Snead has been GM usually are pretty tight lipped about personnel issues. Agreed it's unusual. I think this is one way to signal to the marketby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I love the idea! Get 3-4 QBs for a few million and rotate in packages. NFL is such a grueling and injury filled league, being able to combat that with depth is a huge advantage over $30mm+ going to individual players.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay had Reed at Washington. We've all wanted to see that production with the Rams. Higbee has shown flashes of greatness but disappears far too often and is inconsistent in blocking. Wondering if Shanahan is the true TE guru as he was able to take a mid-round Kittle and turn him into the best TE in the league in a year.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Feels like a genius could have found a way to get him on the field in specific packages.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Nope! My comparable there is Bortles. Can win a game here with a good arm and legs and there but far from consistent/accurate enough to steer a team through a season and beyond.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm guessing they will do pretty well for at least a year or two regardless. They have been watching all juniors, seniors, and probably sophomores now for years. Snead has his big board already and are doing final adjustments and personality reviews between now and April. This year will be harder for everyone because of Covid. Less tape, scout travel, and games, especially in conferencesby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes you can see it in the Seattle game where they are all standing around waiting for Goff to relay final instructions. Takes 3-5 seconds to tell everyone. They line up taking another 3-5 seconds, then they make their motion and poof the clock is down to 2 seconds.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
What we do know is that McVay is constantly talking until the 15 second mark after the defense has set their alignment. We also know is that offensive coaches are leaving quickly after getting there. We don't know for sure how much control Goff has, but McVay is certainly trying to control a lot.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Why not start it here and now so you can all rest a little easier in the offseason :beer2 Predictions: 1. The rams will be a winning and competitive program next season. Sure the rams lost a lot of coaches and will lose a bunch of good free agents. Sure the NFC west is ultra competitive and that won't change unless the coaches do. Sure the rams have the underappreciated Goff as their QB (by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
AR holds a grudge compared to just about any player I've seen. He was a huge fan of them growing up and wanted to go there, but as he sat and stewed for hours in the draft after the 49ers took Alex Smith, I don't think he ever has or will ever get over it. That said I think he is much more likely to the 49ers than Rams.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

Wouldn't have done that deal even for Mahomes... BTW, Snead probably itching to sign Akers to a long term. DON"T do it Snead.... Better OL will help any RB perform better including Darrel Henderson.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I love Marvin Jones but wouldn't take him except as a cheap Woods replacement. Former Cal guy. He may have been there with Goff in his 1st year at Cal. More like Woods in a do all the little things routes etc and very sound hands. Struggles with separation at times but makes a great #3 forgotten man. Rams have 3 WRs like him now in Kupp, Woods, and Van. They need a big dude to that cby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Definitely my biggest gripe with Snead is the big contracts. I get trying to save money down the road but most of them have blown up. Even the best no brainer extension is Aaron Donald.... I would do less years/guaranteed with options to extend because you never know on the health of a player. Kupp is great but injured a lot. WRs usually take a beating like RBs. Especially how the Raby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
While he is a stud... I think SAF is the position you can best find a replacement cheap. They've drafted and Identified DBs extremely well. Unless Holmes was the magic man there, I think you spend your money somewhere else (OL/Mlb, DE).by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteBumRap I think it is awefully strange that fans and media act like McVay is a coach guru or talent developer. When he was hired he needed Philips to help him and then suddenly who ever he talks to or hires is a top talent and candidate for a Job. Shannahan and Gruden groomed McVay so sorta strange that folks do not link these hires to them. The other odd thing is the guys are being sucessfulby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotestlrams13 I'm more concerned about McVays view of Goff than anything Let's face it, none of us really know what's going on. We can speculate but we really don't know On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is it between McVay and Goff? Feels like an 8 to me but maybe it's a 2 h My guess is it's a 4. Heck the Packers drafted a 1st rounder and that upset AR to no end. McVay has just put Gofby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I want to know who the heck identified Staley.... No track record and yet #1 D in the league in year one? He inherited a lot but I feel like the pieces just fit so well together. Fuller a 6th rounder does a pretty decent job all year. Supposedly Holmes found him. Does Snead have a draft board of position coaches ranked so he knows who to call first when someone gets poached?by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotepromomasterj Caroll did 15 years in the NFL as an assistant before USC. Harbaugh had a long career as a player in the league. Saban was worthless in the pros. Quotemerlin Rams have a really, really good model. They're doing it. This is why we get poached btw other teams want all those things and tendencies McVay has that seem to work on top of the win/loss results where he excels. Agree the rams are good. I don't think all staff look at it the same way. See part 2 of the coaching series on types of coaches available. I think you would beby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
