Yes all good points that a good D can help it's own ToP.
There have been good college teams with the hurry-up like Oregon. Their defense was built around turnovers so they got scored on a lot, but their offense was extremely efficient and their defense would get enough turnovers to win consistently until they faced good ground and pound teams that controlled the clock like LSU.
Basically their defense played a high-risk cover the front that led to interceptions but they also got torched for long plays. It worked because their offense was good enough.
In that special KC game, Wade's defense got 3 turnovers (2 by ebukam!) including the INT at the end that sealed the victory. Still, those are shootouts and a low percentage chance at victory.
