I think it is awefully strange that fans and media act like McVay is a coach guru or talent developer. When he was hired he needed Philips to help him and then suddenly who ever he talks to or hires is a top talent and candidate for a Job. Shannahan and Gruden groomed McVay so sorta strange that folks do not link these hires to them. The other odd thing is the guys are being sucessful in their own right not that they were schooled by McVay. I wish he knew a great special teams coach.
Shannhan has that respect as well... His OC/DC were just hired by the jets.
I actually think Shannhan is the real genius that struggles at a lot of things that McVay is better at. Will attempt to cover in CS Part3/4
