Alex Mack may be the best lineman ever to play at Cal. He's that good. Aaron Rodgers had Mack and Marshawn Lynch. Think about that! He consistently gets pancakes straight up the middle making for huge holes for RBs. He is a bit older and has some injury history. Sully is probably a good comparison.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
What about the fact that he lost all his coaches? I could see one of them being his next whipping boy if things don't go right.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I think we will still see the crap the bed against the 9ers games... Unfortunately Shanahan is a much better game day coach than McVay.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

I dunno, It's rare for an undrafted guy to get in there and make big plays at the QB position. I was rooting for Wolford in a way I wasn't rooting for Goff as he sliced up Arizona a few weeks before and I'm a Goff fan. I think everyone was excited to see him as he works hard and is always there and was getting his shot!by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Many reports they went after Rodgers at the same time. Sounds like Stafford was Plan B.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Exactly! I can't wait to see how he does.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteBearlyThere Question: Do we think Jordan is the new mouthpiece for the organization the way Silver is for Goff? Is she given more backstory then others or is this purely from her inferences from press conferences and the like? Vinny used to have somewhat this role. That is, she gets some inside info and a bit of access. But that comes at a cost because it means she cannotby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

Small hands and fumbles yes. He didn't have an interception problem, though he did have one horrible game against Utah with 4 interceptions in one game. He still played well enough that he had a chance to win that one at the very end.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuotePHDram Goff should have been allowed to do his own thing? I really don't get your point. Yes snead has made errors. Mcvay has made errors. So has goff. They're all human. In response I would say that mcvay and snead have made more good decisions than bad. As an outsider looking in Id probably would have the same about goff. But obviously we don't know the whole story. Clearly mcvay fby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I think there is a chance Detroit deals him and that would likely be best for Goff unless Detroit somehow magically turns it around under Campbell. Sounds like they all called Goff to assure him he is their guy and Goff liked that per Silver article. It seems like they plan to keep him. I do believe Goff can do better under a new coach because we have all seen Goff do way better in 17-18by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteazramfan I highly doubt it. I am sure Matt is much better at reading defenses and processing than Jared. Think this was the number one reason why the relationship soured with the turnovers a close second. He jus never progressed and got it like most do. And he needed to come along way from his Cal days and not reading defenses at all. I am sure McVay will be in Matt's ear but not nearly as mby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay was definitely nicer and more effusive in praise the first couple years. He was also huge at taking the blame the first few years after losses. Now it seems he is a bit more bitter and angry, especially after a loss. Is this all hate of Goff? Probably not. Seems like he is more stressed to perform to either his or someone else's expectations.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Seems like he struggles to give up control... I'm guessing yes he has a LONG conversation with Stafford each and every play.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Being a head coach is a very hard job. Harder still in the NFL where you have a large team of players and coaches. I'll attempt to break down all the primary aspects of being a head coach and give my opinion on how McVay does on each of these aspects. Off the Field - Preparing Coaches: 11+ coaches and assistants on a team. They need to know clearly their responsibilities for each day ofby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I wish him the best as well! Still hoping he goes to a better team like Indy. You never know, a whole new coaching regime change can be a benefit to a program.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Silver is definitely a biased Cal guy but doesn't mean he is wrong. We've all seen Sneed make a lot of BAD contract decisions. That dude should not be allowed to extend anyone. He is better at trading, drafting, and finding coaches. We've all seen a lot of BAD play calls by McVay on 3rd and 15 and in the redzone that defies logic. I have a feeling we will still see that in 2021 unleby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
#2 has already come true... Still holding firm on the other two predictions in case anyone wants to add theirs :-).by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Good Article and does bring some balance to the story. Silver has a long relationship with Goff and has his back. Goff is most definitely the source. Seems like McVay didn't say a lot to Goff aside from their big Seahawks 4 hour conversation and what he said in the press. Doesn't surprise me but does seem a bit immature on McVay's part. In a relationship communication is crucial. Espeby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I am fascinated by this fact... We've seen OCs/DCs leave teams to become HCs and they have great success where their old team starts to fade. We've also seen HCs lose their coaches and players and reload and it's no big deal. Is Snead the Genius or is Holmes or are they both good? Different but complementary skillsets? 4 more years will tell us a lot.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah... 20 year old kids are invincible. 30 year old men realize there is life after football. 25 year old Goff came back and played with a broken and dislocated thumb. Then he did it again a few weeks later with an 11 day old surgery swollen as all heck.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Well he won't do anything with Detroit. Heck he will be an idol there if he can get them to 7 wins. Do you see who they play next year? Bengals may be the only easy game on that schedule. Atlanta an unknown. at Atlanta Falcons at Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings Arizona Cardinals San Francisco 49ers Baltimore Ravensby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I think you are Hoping it will be Stafford :lol3by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
For sure! At this point we don't know if Wentz will even start or where. I have a feeling both will play better under new coaches which says a lot about the coaches they were under. We've all seen managers/employees that do well at first together and then they get comfortable and then the true personalities come out. Sometimes a change of scenery can be uplifting for a while...by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Same was true about Whitworth right? Never won a playoff game with the Bengals for over a decade. That said, I agree the rams gave up too much. If they weren't in the cap situation they were, they could have gotten Stafford for a 1st and 3rd and sold goff for a few 2nds or maybe 1st.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams_81 Sorry, I am pro attack attack and attack 1) Chiefs 2) Bucs 3) Bills 3 of the top offenses in the final four with great tempo on their offense. I may have changed my opinion on Rodgers of being the greatest QB ever just because he took too much time when trailing by 18 points. He burned up so much time piddling between plays it reminded me of the "Just Got It Off&quoby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedzrams QuoteBearlyThere McVay is coaching for a methodical, short chunk, high % game. It's not that he doesn't want explosive plays, it's that he wants to ensure the high% plays are reviewed first. I think Goff has tried to adjust to this style and it hasn't been to his strength. He doesn't get in rhythm anymore. Defenses are crowding the line because they know everything will be short.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes all good points that a good D can help it's own ToP. There have been good college teams with the hurry-up like Oregon. Their defense was built around turnovers so they got scored on a lot, but their offense was extremely efficient and their defense would get enough turnovers to win consistently until they faced good ground and pound teams that controlled the clock like LSU. Topic is around why the Rams intentionally stay away from the hurry-up, Question: Does this matter for Goff and Watson's relative performances? Time of possession is one of the most important metrics after 3rd down conversion percent and turnover %. It usually tells you who controlled the tempo and line of scrimmage on both sides. Goff was tremendous at Cal in the hurry-up and with exploby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
